Overview
Metro Garage Doors Inc. ("Metro," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, share, and protect personal information when you visit metrogaragedoorsinc.com ("the Site"), request service by phone or web form, schedule an appointment, apply for financing, or otherwise interact with us.
By using the Site or our services, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site or submit information to us.
Information we collect
Information you provide directly
- Contact information — name, address, email, phone number, and any details you include when you call us, fill out the contact form, request an estimate, or book a service appointment.
- Service information — the details of your garage door issue, the make/model of your door and opener, photos you may send, appointment preferences, and any access instructions.
- Payment information — for paid services, we collect payment information through our payment processor. We do not store full card numbers on our own servers.
- Financing information — if you choose to apply for GreenSky financing, you provide your information directly to GreenSky/Synovus Bank, not to Metro. See "Financing applications" below.
Information collected automatically
- Device and browser data — IP address, browser type, operating system, referring page, pages viewed, and timestamps. This data is collected by standard server logs and analytics tools.
- Cookies and similar technologies — see the Cookies & tracking section below for the categories we use and how to control them.
- Approximate location — derived from your IP address, used to confirm whether you're in our service area and route you to the right city page.
Information from third parties
- Reviews and ratings you publish on third-party platforms (Google, BBB, HomeAdvisor, Thumbtack, Yelp).
- Booking-platform data when you schedule through our online scheduler (ScheduleEngine).
- Referral information when another customer or partner refers you to us.
How we use your information
We use personal information for the following business purposes:
- Provide service — schedule appointments, dispatch technicians, complete repairs and installations, follow up on workmanship, and honor warranty obligations.
- Communicate — confirm bookings, send appointment reminders, share quotes, request reviews after service, and respond to inquiries.
- Process payments — collect payment for services rendered through our payment processor.
- Facilitate financing — pass relevant project information to GreenSky if you initiate a financing application.
- Improve the Site and our service — understand how visitors use the Site, identify issues, and make the experience better.
- Marketing — send periodic offers, newsletters, or service reminders if you opt in. You can opt out at any time using the unsubscribe link in any marketing email.
- Comply with the law — meet legal, regulatory, tax, and audit requirements; respond to lawful requests from law enforcement; protect against fraud, theft, and harm to property or people.
Financing applications (GreenSky / Synovus Bank)
If you choose to apply for financing through Metro, you complete the application on a GreenSky-hosted site. The personal and financial information you submit during the application is collected directly by GreenSky and Synovus Bank — not by Metro. Metro does not see, store, or process your Social Security number, full birthdate, or full income figures.
We do receive a yes/no approval result and the approved loan amount so we can apply it to your invoice when the work is done. GreenSky's privacy practices are governed by their own privacy policy at greensky.com/privacy.
Phone calls & SMS
When you call (770) 526-1214, your call may be recorded for training, quality assurance, and dispatch verification. We retain call recordings only as long as needed for those purposes and then delete them on a routine schedule.
If you opt in to text-message updates (e.g., "tech is on the way"), we use a third-party SMS provider to send those messages. Standard message and data rates from your carrier may apply. You can stop messages at any time by replying STOP to any text from us, or by calling our office during business hours.
How long we keep data
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes it was collected for and to meet legal obligations:
- Service records — retained for the life of the customer relationship plus a reasonable period for warranty and tax recordkeeping.
- Payment records — retained per applicable tax and accounting requirements.
- Marketing data — retained until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
- Call recordings — retained only as long as needed for training and quality, then deleted on a routine schedule.
- Analytics data — aggregated and retained per the configuration of our analytics tools (typically 14 months for Google Analytics).
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. These include encrypted connections (HTTPS), restricted access controls, and vendor agreements that require comparable safeguards.
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security but we work continuously to protect the information you share with us.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Delete personal information, subject to certain exceptions (e.g., we may need to retain records for tax and warranty purposes).
